Interests & Experiences

My interest for agriculture started my junior year in high school when I joined Future Farmers of America (FFA). My junior and senior year I purchased and raised a hog. I then participated in the hog show at the Mobile County Fair where we showed and auctioned them off. Both years I also competed on our chapter's poultry team. The first year competing we placed fifth, and the following year we placed second at the district competition. This is where my interest for poultry began. My senior year I was the Reporter of our chapter and received my State FFA Degree. Before I joined FFA I had no idea what I wanted to study after I graduated. I really enjoyed learning about poultry and participating in poultry competitions, so I decided to continue my education in that field. I also am interested in getting a minor in Animal Sciences. I have worked with hogs, goats and horses; one day I would like to have my own farm. My other interests include hiking, cooking, volunteering, traveling and dancing. I also have had a job since I was fifteen years old, in order to pay my way through college. Having a job in the restaurant industry for close to five years has made me realize I am on the right path and will do anything to continue to follow and achieve my goals. I obtained communication, multitasking, and time management skills by working at a restaurant and going to school simultaneously.

While at Auburn I hope to further my education as a Poultry Production major and try new experiences to gain skills I will use within my career.
